In Loving Memory
In Loving Memory of
"Atta Panin"
Begoro Bretuo Abusuapanin
“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on… that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”
— Revelation 14:13 NKJV
It is with deep sorrow but humble acceptance of God's will that the
Akua Amankwaa Bretuo Family of Begoro
in the Eastern Region announce the passing of their beloved Abusuapanin,
Mr. Wilson Atta Krofah (Atta Panin).
Mr. Krofah passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026
at The Bank Hospital, Accra, Ghana after a short illness.
He was 86 years old.
Daddy
Wilson Atta Krofah, the elder of twins, was born on 20th March 1939 at Obawale in the Yilo Krobo District, Eastern Region of Ghana, to Lawrence Sakyiama and Lydia Korowaa. He was one of six children. Their parents passed very early in their childhood, so they were cared for by an aunt, Agnes Opokua, and an uncle, aka Teacher Mamphey at Tumfa.
He attended Begoro Presbyterian Boarding School and thereafter Akim Tafo Business College, where he laid the foundation for a distinguished career in commerce.
The young Begoro man moved to Accra to find work after his education. He found his first job after what he described as a rigorous interview with the United Africa Company of Ghana Limited (UAC). He was employed as a District Manager’s Secretary in 1953. He had such a positive attitude and excelled in his work so much so that he was promoted to the position of General Sales Manager with Accra Ice Company, a subsidiary of UAC.
Thereafter, he was appointed the first Ghanaian Marketing Director of Lever Brothers Ghana Limited. He subsequently became the General Manager and Director of UAC, which was previously composed of 16 subsidiaries. His work-life balance was second to none — he worked hard and played hard. He worked internationally in Kenya, the United Kingdom, and Nigeria with Lever Brothers, not to mention the numerous other countries he visited for work.
He retired from the UAC group as a Director of UAC, whereupon he set up his own successful companies — Research and Marketing Services (“RMS”) and WILEB Mining Supplies Ltd, the latter of which he worked at until his demise on 19th February 2026.
He had a good life, friends, and a wonderful, loving family. He is survived by a wife and 11 children.
